Easter weekend I had the absolute pleasure of designing and installing a 4 metre high cross on Upper Reaches Prayer Barge, on the theme of HOPE.

People often tie yellow ribbons to benches, railings or trees to signify brokenheartedness, loss or in memory of someone. There has been so much loss over the last year since the covid outbreak, both in terms of loved ones who have died, but also in other ways - identity, relationships, stability and more.

Green ribbons are widely used to represent mental health awareness. Many peoples' mental health has been negatively affected by the pandemic. It can feel harder to connect with others and hold onto a sense of belonging during restrictions, with long term isolation slowly taking its toll on hearts and minds.

There are over three thousand yellow and green ribbons hand-tied to the cross, to help convey the quiet overwhelm of struggle this last year may have had on so many people.

But the good news is that there is HOPE. Sometimes elusive, just a glimmer perhaps. But it stands steadfast amid the turmoil. An anchor for the storms of life. πŸŽ—πŸŒˆπŸ•Š

Hi everyone! As you're probably aware, the Bristol art trails in their lovely, usual format aren't really happening this year. However, I'm taking part in the online West Bristol trail this weekend >>>

I'm going to REALLY miss meeting all the lovely trail-goers face-to-face, but it would be lovely to see you supporting local artists at this if you can. A great way to get some home-based xmas shopping in early & support small, independent businesses at the same time!

I'm offering free UK shipping on all orders made through my Etsy shop now & over the weekend www.theknittedpea.etsy.com use code FREESHIPWB at checkout β˜ΊοΈπŸŒ±πŸŒπŸ„πŸ¦‰πŸ›πŸ™
